Our April social events will be a “First Friday” event at Sidetrack on April 7th from 5-7pm where we will kick-off our annual membership renewal drive, sign-up new members, and register runners and walkers for Proud to Run. As an extra incentive to register for Proud to Run, FRFWChicago is offering a $15 discount membership to the club which gives runners access to the Couch to 10K training program which culminates at Proud to Run on June 24th. Later in the month, we’ll have a rip-roaring happy hour at Howl at the Moon on April 28th. See the invite below for more details.FrontRunners Happy Hour copy
Our Training Programs
Periodically throughout the year, FRFWChicago offers various training programs free of charge to club members. Our offerings range from “learn to run” programs to programs designed to build speed and endurance. Here is the 2017 calendar of training offerings.
FRFW Chicago will launch the first of its 2017 coached training programs on Saturday, April 8 at 9am at the Totem Pole. The Couch to 10K program is offered by Dan Solera free of charge to all dues paying members of FRFW Chicago. Here is some info about Dan.
Dan began running in 2008 as a means to enjoy a new neighborhood with plenty of sidewalks and parks. But it wasn’t until he brought an old Nokia phone with him to clock each individual mile time that he realized how much he enjoyed challenging himself to go farther, faster. Two years later, he ran three half marathons and his first marathon in Chicago. Today, he has run 47 half marathons and 36 marathons and ultramarathons all over the United States. Running has given him the chance to explore the world around him in exhilarating ways, and has allowed him to meet many interesting people along the way.
In addition to coaching FRFWChicago’s Couch-to-10k program, he trains with Fleet Feet’s Boston365 running group and will be the official coach for the Jackson Chance Foundation’s #TeamChance charity group for the fourth consecutive year.
Each program can be viewed on this page: place your mouse over the program and the toolbar appears at the bottom. Use the navigation in the toolbar to page through the program. You can also click the purple button to download the entire program.
